How to Use Cartooning Skills in the Classroom
Workshops for Teachers and Support Staff
In conveying ideas to children, a quick sketch will often get a point across easily – and make it memorable. Drawing an idea in front of a group is a great way to instantly grab attention and arouse curiosity. However, many people have strongly held belief that they themselves are unable to draw. In this lively session you will discover that you can in fact draw effective pictures when you know how. You may not believe this yet – but no drawing experience is required for success on this workshop.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Draw simple yet powerful cartoons and symbols
- Use cartoons and images to convey meaning when explaining concepts and information
- Help children and students to develop their own drawing skills for use in study and revision
You will be able to incorporate cartooning skills for numerous purposes including; storytelling, making worksheets, creating handouts, presenting ideas, setting learning activities, creating classroom posters, encouraging children and students in their own drawing and creating a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom. You may have also discovered skills you never knew you had.
